Our Methodology
Last updated: January 2026
This page explains how we choose, evaluate and publish the free games featured on Cobalt Arena, and the editorial standards we hold ourselves to. Our goal is simple: to present safe, light-hearted entertainment honestly and clearly, for players aged 18 and over.
How We Evaluate Content
Before a game appears on the site, we review it against a consistent set of checks. We look at the actual experience a player will have and how accurately it can be described:
- Accessibility — does it load quickly and play directly in the browser, with no download and no sign-up wall?
- Clarity — are the controls and objective easy to understand within the first minute?
- Suitability — is the content appropriate for a general 18+ audience, free of real-money wagering and of any claim that something can be won or lost?
- Honesty — can we describe the game truthfully, without exaggerated or misleading promises about outcomes?
Selection Criteria
From the games that pass our review, we prioritise titles that are:
- Completely free, with no deposits, paywalls or hidden costs.
- Stable and responsive on both desktop and mobile browsers.
- Casual and easy to pick up, suited to both newcomers and experienced players.
- Backed by content that belongs to identifiable developers or rights holders.
Publication Process
1. Review. We test the game ourselves and check it against the evaluation
criteria above.
2. Describe. We write a plain, accurate description — what the game is,
how it plays, and what it is not (no bets, no prizes, entertainment only).
3. Attribute. We confirm the content's ownership and, where relevant,
link out to the developer's own resource rather than misrepresenting its source.
4. Publish & monitor. Once live, we periodically re-check that links
work and that descriptions still match the game. If something no longer fits, we correct or
remove it.
Editorial Policy
We aim to keep every page accurate, transparent and free of misleading claims. Specifically:
- We never present the platform as offering gambling, betting, real-money play or prizes.
- We use third-party names and trademarks only for identification, with no implied endorsement.
- We label optional features — such as the newsletter and browser notifications — clearly, and keep them opt-in.
- We correct errors promptly when we become aware of them. To report an inaccuracy, email [email protected].
